Board of Health
The Board of Health is responsible for overseeing development of health policies and regulations, food inspections, waste disposal issues, tobacco control, issuance of licenses, and animal control. Additionally, the Board of Health plays an integral role in Emergency Planning.

Board of Public Works
The Board of Public Works is an advisory and recommending body to the Town Manager in matters of public works. The Town Council shall set water, sewer and stormwater rates based upon the recommendations of the Board of Public Works and the Town Manager.

Commission on Disability
The Commission on Disability coordinates or implements programs in coordination with programs of the Massachusetts Office on Disability in order to bring about full and equal participation in all aspects of life in the Town for people with disabilities.

Community Preservation Committee
The Community Preservation Committee is responsible for studying and, recommending to the Town Council the appropriation of Community Preservation Funds for, the needs, possibilities and resources of the Town regarding community preservation, including the consideration of regional projects for community preservation.

Conservation Commission
It is the Conservation Commission’s primary responsibility to protect and preserve the wetlands in East Longmeadow and to this end prohibit disturbance of certain areas.

Historical Commission
The East Longmeadow Historical Commission is a seven member board that works to preserve, promote and develop the town’s historical assets for present and future use. The commission oversees the operations of the Historical Museum House and the Library’s History Room.

Planning Board
The Planning Board of East Longmeadow is the Special Permit Granting Authority and sole approvers of residential, commercial, and business subdivisions, as well as ANR plans. The Planning and Community Development Department staff serves as the professional and technical staff for the processing of applications for those types of projects.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals is a quasi-judicial body granted powers under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40A, Section 12. The function of the ZBA is to hear appeals of decisions rendered by the Building Commissioner, interpret unclear provisions in the zoning bylaw, and decide on applications by landowners to permit structures which vary from the zoning regulations.
